Introduction
The Carlton Hotel recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of certain basic personally identifiable information such as names, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, employment status, credit card type and numbers and other financial information, and the dates of hotel stays collected about our guests and prospective guests (Guest Information). We do not collect guest information from individuals unless they provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. We have adopted this Policy to guide how The Carlton Hotel uses such Guest Information.
Purpose
The purpose of this Policy is to balance our legitimate business interests in collecting and using Guest Information with the reasonable expectation of privacy that may be held by those providing such Guest Information.
Information
It is necessary for us to collect and store Guest Information to provide requested lodging and related services and for billing purposes. California state law requires hotel operators to collect and retain some or all such Guest Information. We may also use credit card numbers to identify our frequent guests and the persons who make guaranteed reservations. This information also enables us to request customer feedback, develop and tailor products and services to better meet customer needs and preferences, and to offer customers products from The Carlton Hotel or the Weyrich companies that may be of interest. We do not collect social security or driver’s license numbers from our guests.
Security
The security of Guest Information is very important to us, and we are committed to protecting the information we collect. We collect Guest Information only in a manner deemed reasonably necessary to serve our legitimate business purposes and comply with our legal obligations. We use commercially reasonable efforts to make our collection of Guest Information consistent with all applicable laws and regulations. We exercise care in providing secure transmission and storage of information. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot warrant that all data we transmit, store and collect will be completely secure. We take commercially reasonable efforts to create and maintain firewalls, restricted access and secure socket layers, and other appropriate safeguards to ensure that to the extent we control Guest Information, it is used only as authorized by us and consistent with this Policy, and that Guest Information is not improperly altered or destroyed. Our privacy protection practices help us maintain accurate, timely, complete and relevant information for our business purposes. Our communication system, software and database practices have been designed to aid us in supporting authenticity, integrity and confidentiality.
What We Will And Will Not Do With Guest Information
We will not sell, trade or rent Guest Information to parties outside The Carlton Hotel or the Weyrich companies.
- We may use Guest Information to offer goods and services we believe may be of interest to guests on behalf of The Carlton Hotel and Weyrich companies. We may use Guest Information to contact guests to inquire or survey about the guest experience at The Carlton Hotel and the prospect of future stays or improvements needed to attract additional business. We may also create and use aggregate Guest Information that is not personally identifiable to understand more about the common traits and interests of our guests.
- We will not use the Guest Information we collect and store to make decisions about granting or extending consumer credit unless the customer submits a separate credit application and authorizes us to use or disclose this information.
- We will not act as a consumer reporting agency, or furnish information about any customer’s credit worthiness, credit standing, credit capacity, character, general reputation, personal characteristics or mode of living to any consumer reporting agency.
Compliance with Law
We may disclose Guest Information to law enforcement agencies, or may be required to disclose it during the discovery process in litigation, pursuant to a court order, or in compliance with any applicable law, regulation, rule or ordinance.
